Going out with... Explore Peloponnese

Today felt like embarking on a one-way journey to Greek mythology, with Dimitris from "Explore Peloponnese" as our personal guide - a true storyteller who entertained us along the way with myths and legends that would even make the gods envious.

Our first stop took us to the Ayios Monastery in Ioannis Prodomos, where we were greeted by the local celebrities - the donkeys! As if they knew we were coming, they were waiting for us. Inside, the priests spoiled us with Greek coffee and sweets - just what you need to perk yourself up after visiting a monastery.

Then it was time for the Aimyalon Monastery, where we were greeted by a priest who was so enthusiastic about the monastery's history that he couldn't stop talking... in Greek, of course! Fortunately, we had Dimitris, our own translation hero, to rescue us from total confusion.

But let's not forget that our journey was also educational! We visited the Water Power Museum, where we discovered that water is not only good for drinking but also for making gunpowder, tanning leather... Who would have thought?

And then Dimitsana... the village so idyllic that it seemed to come straight out of a postcard. After a delicious lunch at Stemnista, where we felt like true Greek heroes after conquering all those stairs and hills, it was time to return to Paralio Astros. Along the way, we made the obligatory coffee stop and as an extra treat, visited the magical and dreamy Loukous Monastery, near the ruins of Herodes Atticus' villa.

My legs will remind me for days to come of the stairs we climbed, but what a wonderful experience! Dimitris, thank you for the stories and the unforgettable experiences we had today. Next time, we'll bring a Greek dictionary, just to be safe!
